Last Friday, October 21 2011, was Dave and I's 2 year anniversary together. We had started the day by packing. Fun, right? Then we headed out to check in at Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge. We received our anniversary buttons and our room keys. We dropped our stuff off and headed out to the Magic Kingdom. We walked around but it was way too crowded. So we headed to Downtown Disney for hot chocolate (it was chilly) and some window shopping.
Over the course of the day, we were asked how many years we were married. Dave would play along and so would I. Actually, we *weren't* even engaged yet! We just laughed it off and kept going.
We had dinner reservations at Citricos in the Grand Floridian. It was super yummy!! I thought that if Dave would propose at all today (and to be honest, I didn't think he would do it today) it would be here. We sat right by the open kitchen and were treating amazingly! After dinner and dessert, we headed over to the Boardwalk.
We had told a bunch of people that we were going to celebrate at Jellyrolls, a dueling piano bar. Everyone was welcome to come. Only about four people showed up. It's ok, it's just life. Haha
We know Matt and Michael, two of the piano players, pretty well from going in there all the time. The first hour was pretty great. They played a lot of great music like they always do. Then some things started to happen. Daniel and Johnny came up next. I got distracted during their set by an old plane ticket I found and began talking to my friends about it. During Benny and the Jets, I didn't sing a long. Not cool in a Sing A Long Bar. So Dave and I were picked on and made to stand up and sing the response (Benny) to the crowd behind us. We did well :D
We sat back down and listened to the rest of their set. It was great. Then Micha
el and Matt came back. They sang about 2 songs then Michael said that he had a note that said it was Dave and I's anniversary and we should come up to the stage.
"Ok," I thought, "Hopefully this won't be bad."
Boy was I wrong.
We got up and were made to do the Tree Dance. Good thing Matt helped us! lol Just Kidding, we could probably do the Tree Dance with our eyes clo
sed. After the dance this is what happened:
I began to walk off stage.
Matt had handed Dave the microphone and Dave said, "Lauren come back."
I came back and finally realized what was happening when Dave turned to the audience and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, Lauren and I have been dating for the past two years and I have something to ask her.."
And here's what happened next in pictures:
And that about sums up how this girl got engaged. To be honest, I NEVER NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS saw it coming. I thought it would happen next year. Especially because we know 3 people getting married in 2012. Crazy right!?!
Oh one more picture for you all! Here is a picture of the ring!
Pretty crazy right!?! I still can't believe it! I'm getting married! Don't worry. I'll keep you all posted on my fun wedding planning adventures!
